Things looked great on the outside, but on the inside I was losing myself and my health.
My dieting became extreme as I chased after skinny and I felt the need to be productive 24/7 to be good enough. The pursuit of perfection exhausted me and I experienced daily anxiety, panic attacks, hormonal imbalances and digestive issues.
I was at war with my body and my mind was leading the battle.

I spent a lot of years wanting things to look good on the outside, at the expense of feeling good on the inside.
Instead of getting to the root of what was going on with my health, I resorted to band-aid solutions and coping mechanisms.
Zoloft for my anxiety and panic attacks, FAD diets to improve my body image and confidence, birth control to get my period that had gone missing back, Miralax and Gas-x to help with my chronic constipation, Benadryl to fight insomnia, ice cream to deal with uncomfortable emotions...
These quick fixes continued, until I realized none of them were working.
When my anxiety hit an all time high, despite upping my dose of antidepressants, I became determined to find a natural solution.
I was tired of simply surviving.
I started researching and stumbled across the holistic world.
Nutrition was one of the first things that popped up. My brain soaked up all the knowledge as I learned how important nutrition was for mental health.
I got to work and started taking supplements for nutrients I was deficient in and transitioned my processed, low calorie diet over to real, nutrient dense whole foods. I healed my relationship with food, stopped obsessing over the number on the scale and made the choice to take care of my body.
Within weeks I was beginning to feel like my normal self again.
I was so relieved, yet SO frustrated I suffered so long before looking at food as medicine.
I didn’t stop there. After changing my nutrition, I looked at my life as a whole.
I focused on my daily habits, connections, environment, sleep, self-care, movement and most importantly mindset.
I learned I was in control of my thoughts and they were fueling EVERYTHING in my life.
I started to build my mental tool-kit to tackle anxious and negative thoughts before they spiraled and redirected my thoughts to work for me, not against me.
My passion for health is now centered on FEELING good vs. looking good.
I have been anxiety and panic free since 2017 and my physical health is now the best it’s ever been. I have energy, feel calm and most importantly I am comfortable in my skin and enjoying life.
I know God is using my painful and beautiful story for good so I can now help people just like you.
In 2018 I went back to school to study at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I became a Certified Health Coach. I launched my business Nutrition Refresh that same year and started working with women online world wide to help them thrive mentally and physically.
I wish I had someone to support me when I was going through all of this. If you’re suffering, I hope my story gives you hope. You deserve to FEEL good too.
I was a little hesitant to reach out, because I had tried so many things that just didn’t work, but after talking to Christy that first phone call I realized we had very similar backgrounds. And seeing where she is today and how strong and amazing of a person that she is, just gave me so much hope. I was not living, I was just existing. I’m now thriving.
